Current Notes as a (personal) standalone client won't work

Jan Schulz  |   |  Tags: pim email notes client  |  Comments (0)  |  Visits (242)

David Brown  |   |  Tags: client upgrade fp cch 8.5.1 hotfix notes  |  Comments (0)  |  Visits (406)
. Hooray .  No more worries about manually downgrading clients before upgrading.  That is to say, the client installer will is supposed to remove any previous obsolete fix as part of the upgrade process. Can we have that for Domino now, too?  Pretty please. .

Notes & Domino 8.5.1 were released about 10 days ago and we are seeing a record deployment pace. 8.5.1 contains hundreds of  bug fixes since 8.5. Having said that, 8.5.1 is not completely free of problems. So how do you know if and how you will be...

Chris Whisonant  |   |  Tags: client notes views navigation editor  |  Comments (2)  |  Visits (1,055)
There are two quick things I would like to highlight with the Lotus Notes 8.5.1 Client that's currently in beta. First of all is the ability to resize table columns from the rich text editor. I love using the "Copy Selected as Table" from within...

Today a customer called with a strange errormessage: Can't find view. The user tried to open his calendar. When I opened the mailbox with my admin client, everything looked fine. So I fired some updall/compact/fixup tasks against the mailbox. When I called the...

Rant: Another reason not to use the standard client

Jan Schulz  |   |  Tags: support 8 client notes standard ibm webbrowser  |  Comments (3)  |  Visits (723)
Ok, I admit, I'm pissed off right now. Big time. This is a rant about "not supported here", operating system defaults, Webbrowsers and making it extra hard to use something else... and IBM Support. I use the opera webbrowser as a system wide default....

The Notes client is dead - long live the new Notes client?

Jan Schulz  |   |  Tags: lotus client notes xpages  |  Comments (0)  |  Visits (720)
That's at least the impression I get after reading all the blog postings about xPages and the new 8.5.1 client. Forms, Pages and so on are out and the future UI will be done in xPages for both the notes client and web. (Disclaimer: I've not yet seen the new...

Should Private Views be used in a Notes Application - Part 2

John Jardin  |   |  Tags: access view security lotus notes folder client  |  Comments (0)  |  Visits (245)

Nice looking buttons in the Notes Client

Jan Schulz  |   |  Tags: ui notes lotus web2.0 buttons client  |  Comments (3)  |  Visits (958)
After reading Chris Toohey's Quickpoll about Framesets vs. Web I started to think about rewriting a typical Notes Interface (outline to the left, views on the right) to be more "web 2.0" friendly with a landing page. To complete the challenge, the UI...

Notes 8.5 standard client upgrade in Citrix environment

Barbara Skedel  |   |  Tags: citrix 8.5 client  |  Comments (5)  |  Visits (855)
It took awhile, but finally got the Notes 8.5 standard client upgrade working for our Citrix users. The challenge was due to the fact that we place the user's data folder on a network share. In order to accomplish this, first I had to copy the 8.5 data folder...
