Another problem with the document table map property

Chad Scott |   | Tags:  database nsf | Comments (1)  |  Visits (1,150)
Chris Whisonant pointed out a thread in the forum about a "Page is not currently buffered" error people have been seeing after upgrading to 8.0.2. I did some checking, and this is SPR WTUZ7EEL85, which has been fixed in 8.0.3 and should be available via hot fix. The problem appears to occur when the "Optimize document table map" property is enabled on a database. Disabling the property and compacting the database appears to resolve the problem.

You may remember this same property is responsible for another SPR (DCOE6N82TP)  that caused a bit of a firestorm earlier in the year. For now, I do not recommend implementing this feature due its unreliability. If you are experiencing the issue documented in DCOE6N82TP, please open a PMR so we can help prioritize when this bug will be addressed.

Chad, thanks for posting this information that I've personally seen happen (unfortunately it was on a NAB!). Thanks for letting us all know that this particular issue with the "Optimize document table map" property should be fixed in 8.0.3. Does this seem to happen more when the database is replicated with pre-8.0.2 servers? It seems that some of the customers in the forum (and my client as well) saw this issue when the database was replicated with 8.0.1 or earlier servers.

I'm cross-posting this comment to my blog as well.
