I have a script that crawls the mail directory and logs the date,
number of mailboxes and total space used along with writing out the user and size
of their mail database on that particular date. I really don't know why I have (or want) this
information but because I do have it I can tell you that on October 17, 2005, we had 461 email databases for a grand total of 69.54GB. Two year later that had grown to 532 email databases for a grand total of 219.9GB. A server program runs Mon-Fri that compacts our databases and reclaims the white space provided there's more then 10% but disk space was becoming an issue and I was very excited about the space savings potential in Domino 8.

The tag cloud indicates the frequency of tag use. Popular tags appear darkest. The slider control adjusts how many tags are displayed in the tag cloud.
1 Chris Whisonant Permalink David, that's awesome!!! Congrats on the space savings. In the testing I've done 25-30% is pretty average. Now to start planning for DAOS in 8.5!
That's great that you have 6/8 of your servers upgraded. And you
have to wait on BES to support 8.x for one of them, right?
2 David Jones Permalink Correct. One is a BES server and the other I need to find my JDK 1.5 install for i5 before I can upgrade it.
3 Kim Greene Permalink Awesome, this will be a compelling reason for customer's to upgrade to 8. Are all of your Domino servers, with the exception of BES, on the iSeries?
4 David Jones Permalink Only half are on the iSeries. The other half are currently on Windows but I'd like to move a couple of those over to Linux.
